Which Mac Pro Do You Have?
The RAID card installation instructions vary slightly depending on whether you are
installing the card in a quad-core Mac Pro or an 8-core Mac Pro.
Identifying an 8-core Mac Pro
Look at the label on the back panel or use System Profiler to identify an 8-core Mac Pro.
Checking the back-panel label:

Look at the configuration label, located below the video ports. On an 8-core Mac Pro
computer, the first line includes the EMC number 2138 and the second line includes
3.0_8cx.
Using System Profiler:

If the system is running, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu. The processor in
an 8-core Mac Pro is listed as “2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon.”
